Key Responsibilities

  • Assist medical technologists and doctors with patient preparation for various diagnostic procedures, including blood tests, imaging scans, and other laboratory analyses.
  • Perform accurate and meticulous collection of patient samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue swabs) adhering strictly to established clinical protocols and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Ensure proper labeling, documentation, storage, and timely transport of all collected samples to the laboratory, maintaining sample integrity.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, sterilization, and organization of diagnostic equipment, examination rooms, and all work areas to meet stringent hygiene standards.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of medical supplies and consumables, restocking as necessary and reporting any shortages or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Provide compassionate support and clear, concise instructions to patients before, during, and after diagnostic procedures, addressing their concerns with empathy.
  • Assist with essential administrative tasks, including patient registration, accurate record-keeping, data entry, and efficient appointment scheduling.
  • Adhere rigorously to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and company operational procedures.
  • Participate actively in ongoing training sessions and professional development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, fostering effective communication among staff and with patients.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrable strong attention to detail and superior organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced and demanding medical environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • High level of empathy, compassion, and professionalism when interacting with patients.
  • Proven ability to follow instructions meticulously and execute tasks with precision.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist patients with mobility as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor of Science (BSc) in a science-related field (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science) is a significant advantage.
  • Prior experience (even voluntary) in a healthcare setting, laboratory, or customer service role is beneficial.
  • Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Basic familiarity with common medical terminology and diagnostic procedures.
