Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Moka. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with established accounting principles and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring proper coding and supporting documentation.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice verification, payment processing, and collection efforts.
- Process payroll and maintain related records, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and tax regulations.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, providing accurate financial data and analysis.
- Support external audits by preparing audit schedules and providing necessary documentation.
- Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations (VAT, corporate tax, etc.) and assist with tax filings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
- Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by management.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a corporate environment
- Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, SAGE) and MS Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Partially qualified ACCA, CIMA, or CPA student
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Prior experience in the financial services or corporate services industry
- Knowledge of Mauritian tax legislation
