Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and dismantle video recording equipment, including cameras, lighting, microphones, and teleprompters.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Monitor video and audio levels during recording sessions to ensure high-quality capture.
  • Assist with on-site logistics, including cable management, equipment placement, and power distribution.
  • Collaborate with producers, directors, and other team members to understand project requirements and achieve desired visual outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues proactively during shoots to prevent disruptions.
  • Ensure all captured footage is properly labelled, stored, and backed up according to company protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and equipment storage area.
  • Adapt to various shooting environments, including studio settings, corporate events, and outdoor locations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in operating professional video cameras (e.g., DSLRs, mirrorless, camcorders).
  • Basic understanding of lighting techniques for video production.
  • Familiarity with audio recording equipment and sound principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common technical issues related to video and audio equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation to various job sites within the Toronto area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Film Production, Broadcasting, Media Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience with various camera brands (e.g., Sony, Canon, Panasonic).
  • Familiarity with video switching and live stream equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
