Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to join our growing team in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about supply chain management and purchasing to contribute significantly to our operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Procurement Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our procurement department, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services necessary for our operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders and requisitions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update supplier information, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and compare product prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve issues related to orders, delivery discrepancies, quality, and invoicing.
  • Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery and follow up on any delays or backorders.
  • Support the negotiation of favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, aiming for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost analysis.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels and coordinating with warehousing for stock reconciliation.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to regulatory requirements and internal audit standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide effective support.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Assistant, Purchasing Assistant, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CIPS certification or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience with ERP systems or procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Familiarity with local Mauritian suppliers and market dynamics.
  • Ability to speak French and English fluently.
