Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across various business functions and projects, identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain advanced risk models and frameworks to quantify and predict potential exposures across financial portfolios and operational processes.
  • Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies indicative of emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed, insightful risk reports and compelling presentations for senior management and stakeholders, outlining key findings, strategic recommendations, and robust mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor adherence to established risk management policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and legal, to integrate risk considerations into all business processes and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, global market developments, and evolving regulatory landscapes in risk management to ensure proactive adjustments.
  • Support the development and delivery of engaging risk awareness training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Perform comprehensive scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate potential impacts of various adverse risk events on the organization's stability.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a Risk Analyst, Quantitative Analyst, or similar analytical role.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and frameworks (e.g., ERM, Basel, COSO).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modeling software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SQL) for complex data manipulation and analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, array formulas, and VBA for automation.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex quantitative and qualitative information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field or relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM – Financial Risk Manager, CFA – Chartered Financial Analyst, PRM – Professional Risk Manager).
  • Experience with GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) software platforms or enterprise risk management systems.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards specific to the Canadian market.
  • Proven track record of developing and successfully implementing effective risk mitigation strategies in a dynamic environment.
