Job Description
Mimosa Mining Company, a renowned leader in the platinum group metals (PGM) sector, is seeking an innovative and meticulous Data Visualization Dashboard Developer to join our dynamic team in Zvishavane. As a critical member of our data and analytics division, you will be instrumental in transforming complex operational data into intuitive, actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making across all levels of the business.
In the fast-paced environment of mining, an immense volume of data is generated constantly from various sources, including detailed production metrics, critical safety incident reports, comprehensive equipment maintenance logs, intricate geological survey results, and essential environmental monitoring data. Your primary objective will be to design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and interactive data dashboards that effectively communicate performance, identify crucial trends, highlight anomalies, and ultimately support continuous operational improvements and strategic initiatives. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of data storytelling principles, and proven proficiency in leading data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik Sense.
You will collaborate closely with diverse departments, including Operations, Finance, Safety, Engineering, and Human Resources, to thoroughly understand their unique data requirements and translate these needs into compelling and easily digestible visual representations. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive and user-friendly data dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using industry-standard tools.
- Connect to, clean, and transform data from various internal and external data sources (e.g., databases, spreadsheets, APIs) relevant to mining operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments (Operations, Safety, Finance, Engineering) to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications and impactful visualizations.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all developed dashboards and reports.
- Optimize dashboard performance, ensuring fast loading times and efficient data retrieval.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users, fostering self-service analytics capabilities and a data-driven culture.
- Monitor data trends, identify insights, and proactively suggest improvements for operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Stay abreast of the latest data visualization trends, tools, and best practices.
- Document development processes, data sources, and dashboard functionalities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in developing interactive data dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, or similar tools.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and querying complex databases.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to interpret large datasets.
- Familiarity with UI/UX principles for effective dashboard design and data storytelling.
