Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial projections.
  • Conduct in-depth statistical analysis of data to identify trends, evaluate risks, and inform business decisions.
  • Prepare comprehensive actuarial reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, product development, and finance teams to design and price new products.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to ensure compliance and strategic positioning.
  • Provide expert actuarial advice and support for strategic planning and capital management initiatives.
  • Mentor junior actuarial staff and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and development.

Required Skills

  • Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) progressing to FCIA designation
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive actuarial experience in an insurance or consulting environment
  • Strong proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., GGY AXIS, Prophet) and advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical modeling, data analysis, and predictive analytics
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Solid understanding of Canadian insurance regulations and accounting principles (IFRS 17, LICAT)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks
  • Proven track record of innovation in actuarial methodologies or product development
