Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and professional mortgage consultations with new and existing clients to assess their financial needs and circumstances.
- Analyze client financial information, including income, assets, debts, and credit history, to determine appropriate mortgage solutions.
- Provide expert advice on various mortgage products (e.g., residential, buy-to-let, remortgages) and explain terms, conditions, and associated risks clearly.
- Prepare and submit accurate mortgage applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, interest rates, lending criteria, and relevant financial regulations (FCA, MMR, etc.).
- Build and nurture strong, long-term client relationships through excellent service and proactive communication.
- Collaborate effectively with underwriters, solicitors, and other internal departments to facilitate a smooth and timely application process.
- Actively participate in ongoing professional development and training initiatives to enhance expertise and maintain industry qualifications.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of the mortgage division.
- Ensure all advice and actions adhere strictly to company policies, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements.
Required Skills
- Full CeMAP (Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) qualification is essential.
- Proven experience as a Mortgage Consultant or Advisor within the banking or financial services sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of assessing financial data accurately.
- Demonstrated sales acumen and a client-focused approach with a track record of meeting targets.
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, lending criteria, and the UK regulatory framework (FCA).
- Proficiency in using CRM systems and other relevant financial software.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Additional financial qualifications (e.g., DIPFA, ER1).
- Experience with a diverse range of mortgage scenarios, including complex cases.
- Established network within the Chorlton-cum-Hardy or Greater Manchester property market.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
