Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough physical examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, and develop comprehensive treatment plans for a diverse range of animal patients.
- Execute surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, soft tissue surgeries, and other advanced operations, adhering to the highest standards of care.
- Administer vaccinations, parasite control, and other preventative health measures to promote long-term pet wellness.
- Provide clear, empathetic, and detailed communication to pet owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, treatment options, and home care instructions.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records using practice management software.
- Collaborate effectively with veterinary technicians, assistants, and front desk staff to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and surgery.
- Adhere to all provincial veterinary regulations, ethical guidelines, and practice protocols.
- Contribute to a positive and professional work environment, fostering teamwork and mutual respect.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid license to practice veterinary medicine in Alberta, Canada.
- Demonstrated proficiency in small animal diagnostics, medicine, and surgical techniques.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and client education skills.
- A compassionate, patient-centered, and ethical approach to veterinary care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping.
- Proficiency in standard veterinary practice management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of post-DVM clinical experience in a small animal practice.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in specific areas such as dentistry, ultrasonography, or emergency medicine.
- Experience with mentoring junior staff or students.
- Fear Free Certified professional.
- Bilingualism (English and other relevant languages for the community) is an asset.
