Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
  • Process patient prescriptions efficiently, including data entry, insurance verification, and resolution of billing issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries, explaining medication instructions, and managing prescription pick-ups.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and profiles, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking shelves, monitoring expiration dates, and conducting regular cycle counts.
  • Operate pharmacy computer systems and point-of-sale terminals with proficiency.
  • Compound and prepare specialized medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, adhering to strict protocols.
  • Adhere strictly to all state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Answer incoming phone calls professionally, directing calls or resolving issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the pharmacy.
  • Support the pharmacist in various administrative tasks and daily operational duties as needed.

Required Skills

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician license or registration.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interaction.
  • Proficiency with standard pharmacy software systems and point-of-sale operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA.
  • Previous experience with immunization support or other advanced technician responsibilities.
  • Experience with pharmacy automation systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese) to better serve our diverse community.
