Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic projects and engineering team at our Ngezi operations in Mashonaland West Province. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, design, execution, and maintenance of various civil engineering projects across our mining infrastructure. This encompasses a broad spectrum of work, from surface and underground mine infrastructure development to roads, bridges, buildings, water management systems, and waste disposal facilities. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all civil engineering works adhere to stringent safety standards, environmental regulations, and project specifications, contributing directly to the efficiency, sustainability, and expansion of our mining operations. This role demands a strong understanding of engineering principles, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently within a fast-paced industrial environment. The Civil Engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and operational teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of our critical assets. Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and oversee the construction and maintenance of civil engineering structures, including roads, bridges, buildings, pipelines, water reservoirs, and tailings storage facilities.
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for new and existing infrastructure projects.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and project schedules.
- Ensure all civil works comply with relevant national and international engineering standards, codes of practice, and environmental regulations.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines, ensuring efficient delivery and cost control.
- Supervise contractors and project teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards on site.
- Perform structural analysis and design calculations for various civil structures.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and external consultants.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to optimize infrastructure performance and reduce operational costs.
- Prepare technical reports, progress reports, and project documentation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in civil engineering, preferably within the mining, heavy industrial, or infrastructure development sectors.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and structural analysis.
- Demonstrable experience in project management and site supervision.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional registration with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) or a recognized equivalent body.
- Experience with mine infrastructure development and maintenance.
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles relevant to mining operations.
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainable engineering practices.
- Experience working in a remote or challenging environment.
