Job Description

As an Optometric Assistant, you will be the welcoming face of the clinic, playing a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and positive experience for every patient. You will learn the intricacies of patient flow, from greeting and registration to preliminary testing and assisting the Optometrist. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, possesses excellent communication skills, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet patients upon arrival and assist with check-in and registration processes.
- Conduct preliminary diagnostic tests and screenings, such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, and visual field screenings, under the guidance of the Optometrist.
- Prepare examination rooms and sanitize equipment before and after each patient visit.
- Assist the Optometrist during examinations by preparing charts, retrieving necessary instruments, and documenting patient information.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care, as well as general eye health practices.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle incoming calls with professionalism and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Assist patients with frame selection and lens options, providing basic information about products.
- Order and dispense contact lenses and spectacles, ensuring accuracy and patient satisfaction.
- Perform general administrative duties, including filing, faxing, and managing inventory of clinic supplies.
- Ensure the waiting area and exam rooms are clean, tidy, and welcoming for all patients.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Proficient in basic computer usage and able to learn new software quickly

Preferred Qualifications
