Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and compassionate Youth Care Workers to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting adolescents and young adults in a structured group home environment. As a Youth Care Worker, you will be instrumental in creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic atmosphere where residents can develop essential life skills, process challenges, and work towards positive personal growth.

In this vital role, you will provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to our residents throughout their daily routines. Your days will be dynamic and impactful, involving everything from facilitating engaging group activities and providing academic support to managing challenging behaviors with patience and professionalism. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to residents in their daily routines, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and behavioral intervention strategies effectively and consistently.
  • Facilitate and lead group activities, recreational outings, and educational support sessions.
  • Assist residents in developing essential life skills, including personal hygiene, household chores, and social interactions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of resident progress, behaviors, incidents, and daily activities.
  • Administer prescribed medications following established protocols and proper documentation (training provided if needed).
  • Transport residents to school, appointments, community activities, and family visits using company vehicles.
  • De-escalate crisis situations and manage challenging behaviors using approved, non-violent intervention techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical staff, case managers, families, and external agencies to support resident goals.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and therapeutic living environment conducive to resident growth and development.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor, fostering respectful relationships and promoting positive social skills.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working with youth in a structured setting (e.g., residential care, schools, youth programs).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors with patience, empathy, and appropriate intervention techniques.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background checks, including fingerprinting, and drug screening.
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity, reliability, and excellent judgment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field.
  • Prior experience in a residential treatment facility, group home, or similar therapeutic setting.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Training in crisis intervention techniques (e.g., Therapeutic Crisis Intervention – TCI, CPI).
