Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough foot patrols of commercial properties, both interior and exterior, during designated night shift hours.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems diligently to detect and report suspicious activities, unauthorized entry, or potential hazards.
- Control access to the premises, verifying credentials for authorized personnel and visitors, and maintaining accurate logs.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, following established protocols.
- Enforce company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Prepare clear, concise, and detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and observation notes.
- Deter theft, vandalism, and other illicit activities through visible presence and proactive surveillance.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked and unlocked according to schedule.
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance to authorized personnel when required.
Required Skills
- Valid California Guard Card (BSIS)
- Minimum of 18 months of security guard experience, preferably in a commercial or corporate setting
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to operate security equipment, including surveillance systems and access control technologies
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for report writing
- Physical fitness to conduct regular patrols, stand for extended periods, and respond to incidents
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound judgments during critical situations
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with night shift work in a security capacity
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Knowledge of local Berkeley safety regulations and emergency procedures
