Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geologist to join our growing team in South End, Halifax. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional to apply their geological expertise across a diverse portfolio of environmental, geotechnical, and resource-related projects. As a key member of our technical staff, you will be instrumental in conducting site investigations, analyzing complex data, and developing robust solutions that meet both client needs and regulatory requirements.

You will be expected to lead field programs, including subsurface investigations, soil and rock sampling, and monitoring well installations. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute geological and geotechnical field investigations, including drilling supervision, test pitting, and geological mapping.
- Collect, log, and interpret subsurface data, including soil, rock, and groundwater samples.
- Perform geological hazard assessments, slope stability analyses, and foundation design recommendations.
- Utilize GIS and specialized geological software for data analysis, mapping, and report generation.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all field activities.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, project managers, engineers, and clients.
- Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Participate in business development activities, including client relationship management and proposal writing.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the ongoing professional development of the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Geological Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in geological or geotechnical consulting.
- Proficiency in geological mapping, subsurface interpretation, and site characterization.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and hydrogeology principles.
- Demonstrated experience with field equipment and safety protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client interaction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various field and office conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant geological discipline.
- Professional Geologist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility for registration in Nova Scotia.
- Experience with environmental site assessments (Phase I/II ESA) and remediation projects.
- Familiarity with local geological conditions and regulatory frameworks in Nova Scotia.
- Proficiency with specialized software (e.g., gINT, AutoCAD, GIS platforms, MODFLOW).
- Project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling.
