Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Provide medication reminders and assist with self-administration as per care plan and training.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are observed.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Provide companionship, engage clients in meaningful activities, and offer emotional support.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment as needed.
  • Monitor and report any changes in client's physical, mental, or emotional condition to the supervisor.
  • Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Accompany clients to appointments or outings as required.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a home care or facility setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with clients requiring specialized care (e.g., dementia, palliative care).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages common in the Southfield community.
