Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with self-administration as per care plan and training.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are observed.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Provide companionship, engage clients in meaningful activities, and offer emotional support.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment as needed.
- Monitor and report any changes in client's physical, mental, or emotional condition to the supervisor.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Accompany clients to appointments or outings as required.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and company policies.
Required Skills
- Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a home care or facility setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with clients requiring specialized care (e.g., dementia, palliative care).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages common in the Southfield community.
