Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of assigned premises, utilizing both foot and vehicle patrols, to actively deter and detect unauthorized activities, suspicious behavior, and potential security risks.
- Monitor advanced surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, access control points, and alarm systems, and promptly respond to alarms and potential security breaches with immediate action.
- Enforce site-specific security policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring strict compliance by all personnel, visitors, and contractors entering or exiting the premises.
- Control access to buildings, facilities, and restricted areas by verifying credentials, issuing visitor passes, and meticulously maintaining accurate entry and exit logs.
- Respond effectively and professionally to all types of emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, security threats, and unauthorized intrusions, strictly following established protocols and company guidelines.
- Prepare comprehensive, detailed, and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation, ensuring all events are recorded with precision.
- Provide a visible and reassuring security presence, offering assistance, directions, and information to clients, employees, and visitors as needed, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Conduct thorough preliminary investigations into security incidents, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and provide clear, concise testimony as required.
- Operate and maintain security equipment, including radios, alarms, and surveillance systems, ensuring optimal functionality and promptly reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
- Collaborate and coordinate effectively with local law enforcement, emergency services, and management during critical incidents to ensure a unified and effective response.
Required Skills
- Possession of a valid Security Guard License in Alberta (or demonstrated ability to obtain one upon arrival in Canada).
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of verifiable, professional experience in a security-related role.
- Strong understanding and practical application of security protocols, emergency procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
- Exceptional observational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to potential threats.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English communication, capable of clear report writing and effective interpersonal interaction.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and lift up to 25 kg when required.
- Basic computer literacy, including experience with word processing for report writing and familiarity with surveillance monitoring software.
- Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a valuable member of a team.
- A clean criminal record check and eligibility for a security clearance.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and sound judgment, especially when operating under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar security role within commercial, industrial, or multi-residential properties.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience with advanced surveillance systems, access control technologies, and incident management software.
- Proficiency in additional languages is considered a significant asset.
