Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and structural drawings to determine assembly methods and sequence.
- Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place, guiding them to ensure proper alignment and fit.
- Bolt, weld, or rivet steel members to secure them in structural frameworks.
- Cut and bend steel to specifications using various tools and equipment.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, safety nets, and temporary structures.
- Inspect erected structures for conformity to specifications and ensure structural integrity.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices on site.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, including engineers, welders, and other trades.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Structural Ironworker
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and structural drawings
- Expertise in various welding techniques (SMAW, FCAW, etc.)
- Strong understanding of rigging and hoisting procedures
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Excellent physical strength, stamina, and manual dexterity
- Commitment to workplace safety and OSHA regulations
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Ironworker certification or apprenticeship completion
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience operating heavy machinery (cranes, forklifts, man lifts)
- First Aid and CPR certification
