Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and other periodontal treatments.
- Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including medical history review, vital signs, and oral cancer screenings.
- Expose and interpret dental radiographs as needed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and nutritional counseling.
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide under dentist supervision where licensed and applicable.
- Document all findings, treatments, and patient education accurately in patient charts.
- Maintain a sterile and organized operatory, adhering to all infection control protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and front office staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide outstanding patient education and build strong, trusting relationships.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in Minnesota.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if applicable by MN law/license).
- Excellent clinical skills, including scaling, root planing, and periodontal charting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing Dental Hygienist.
- Experience with digital radiography and intraoral cameras.
- Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-provider dental practice.
