Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and other periodontal treatments.
  • Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including medical history review, vital signs, and oral cancer screenings.
  • Expose and interpret dental radiographs as needed.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and nutritional counseling.
  • Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide under dentist supervision where licensed and applicable.
  • Document all findings, treatments, and patient education accurately in patient charts.
  • Maintain a sterile and organized operatory, adhering to all infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and front office staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Provide outstanding patient education and build strong, trusting relationships.

Required Skills

  • Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in Minnesota.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if applicable by MN law/license).
  • Excellent clinical skills, including scaling, root planing, and periodontal charting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing Dental Hygienist.
  • Experience with digital radiography and intraoral cameras.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-provider dental practice.
