Career.zycto is seeking a talented and passionate Cook to join our vibrant kitchen team in Flic en Flac, Black River District. As a Cook with Career.zycto, you will be responsible for the daily preparation and cooking of a diverse range of dishes, strictly adhering to our established recipes and quality standards. You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, contributing to menu development, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation, and maintaining a high level of hygiene and organization in the kitchen. This position requires someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and contribute positively to a collaborative team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, following recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation and cooking activities adhere to strict health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef on daily menu execution and potential new dish development.
  • Monitor inventory of food supplies and ingredients, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Oversee the proper storage and rotation of food items to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation and kitchen area at all times.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff, promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of all meal orders during peak service hours.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive team environment within the kitchen.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven cooking experience in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP or similar certification preferred).
  • Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for food preparation and culinary innovation.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent certification from a recognized institution.
  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant, fine dining establishment, or resort.

  • Basic computer literacy for inventory management.
