Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional and results-oriented Director of Research & Development to spearhead our innovation initiatives in Ruwa, Harare Province. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with company vision, market trends, and business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage the R&D budget, resources, and project portfolio effectively.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technologies, materials, and processes to enhance product performance and competitiveness.
- Establish and maintain robust R&D processes, quality standards, and intellectual property protection strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless product introduction.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, regulatory changes, and scientific advancements.
- Represent the company in scientific forums, conferences, and with key external partners.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biotechnology).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing multidisciplinary R&D teams.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to manage complex R&D programs.
- Extensive experience with product development lifecycle and stage-gate processes.
- Deep understanding of intellectual property management and patent strategy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinking with a proven ability to translate market needs into innovative product solutions.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the sustainable technology, advanced manufacturing, or agro-processing sectors.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to our industry in Southern Africa.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP).
- Prior experience working in an emerging market or developing economy context.
