Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine checks and minor repairs across school premises, including plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical faults.
- Ensure the school buildings and grounds are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
- Manage and monitor heating, lighting, and water systems.
- Oversee and coordinate external contractors for specialist repairs or projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and safety checks.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, identifying and rectifying hazards.
- Manage school security, including opening and closing the premises, key holding, and alarm systems.
- Supervise cleaning staff and ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or urgent maintenance requests.
- Assist with setting up and moving furniture for school events and activities.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling effectively.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a caretaking, facilities management, or building maintenance role.
- Strong practical skills in general repairs (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to school environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness to undertake manual tasks and lift objects.
- DBS check (Enhanced) or willingness to undergo one.
