Job Description

This role as a School Caretaker, working with a reputable educational institution in the vibrant Aigburth area of Liverpool, presents an immediate opportunity for a dedicated and proactive individual. As a key member of the school’s operational team, you will be instrumental in ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your daily contributions will directly impact the educational experience, upholding the highest standards of site maintenance and security, playing a pivotal role in the smooth running of school operations.

We are seeking someone who is not only skilled in general maintenance tasks but also possesses a strong sense of responsibility, excellent organisational abilities, and a friendly, approachable demeanour. The successful candidate will manage a diverse range of duties, from routine checks and minor repairs to overseeing cleaning schedules and implementing robust health and safety protocols across the entire campus. This isn’t just a job; it’s a vital support role at the heart of the school community, where your hard work ensures a conducive, inspiring, and safe learning atmosphere for hundreds of pupils and staff every day. You’ll be the go-to person for everything from fixing a leaky tap to ensuring playgrounds are safe for play.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the school premises, including buildings, grounds, and all internal and external facilities. This includes ensuring all areas are tidy, presentable, and adhere to stringent safety standards at all times. Proactive identification of maintenance needs, efficient execution of repairs within your capabilities, and effective liaison with external contractors for more complex tasks will be crucial. The role demands an individual who can work autonomously, demonstrate strong initiative, and respond effectively and calmly to unforeseen issues or emergencies, always prioritising the safety and well-being of everyone on site. Furthermore, you will manage access control, key holding responsibilities, and ensure the security of the premises outside of school hours. If you thrive in a dynamic setting, enjoy a varied workload that includes both hands-on work and organisational tasks, and are deeply committed to maintaining an excellent school environment, we encourage your application. This immediate start position offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to a local community and become an indispensable part of a supportive school team, truly impacting the lives of future generations. Join us in making a real difference where it matters most.
