Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of the premises, both internal and external, during evening and night shifts to deter unauthorized activities.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems vigilantly to detect and respond to potential security breaches or suspicious activities.
- Control access to the building, meticulously verifying identification, and maintaining accurate logs of all visitors, contractors, and vehicles entering and exiting the site.
- Respond promptly, efficiently, and effectively to security alarms, disturbances, or emergency situations, following established protocols.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures rigorously to ensure a safe and secure environment for all occupants and assets.
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely incident reports and daily activity logs, documenting all relevant observations, actions taken, and individuals involved.
- Liaise professionally and effectively with emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) as required during incidents.
- Conduct routine checks on fire prevention equipment, emergency exits, and safety infrastructure, reporting any deficiencies or hazards promptly.
- Administer basic first aid in emergencies, if trained and necessary, until professional medical help arrives.
- Ensure all entry and exit points are properly secured and locked at appropriate times, in accordance with security schedules.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a security officer or security guard role.
- Valid SIA Licence (Security Industry Authority) for Door Supervisor or Security Guarding.
- Excellent observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and interaction.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure during stressful situations.
- Proficiency in using standard security equipment, including CCTV systems and access control technologies.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing, email communication, and security system interfaces.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality for shift work, particularly night shifts.
- A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential security risks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid at Work certification.
- Previous experience specifically in a night shift or evening security role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to security operations.
- Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- A full, clean UK Driving Licence for potential mobile patrols or site access.
