Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior model makers in the construction of various types of physical models, including architectural, product, and conceptual prototypes.
- Operate and maintain a range of workshop tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and potentially CNC machines or 3D printers after training.
- Prepare materials, including cutting, sanding, shaping, and finishing to precise specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and digital CAD files to inform model construction.
- Ensure all models meet required quality standards, accuracy, and aesthetic appeal.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with design teams, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and project scope.
- Actively learn and apply new model-making techniques, material properties, and fabrication methodologies as required.
- Contribute to problem-solving discussions and offer creative solutions during the fabrication process.
- Conduct basic quality control checks and minor repairs on finished models before presentation.

- Familiarity with various fabrication materials such as wood, different types of plastics, foam, metals, and composite materials.
- Basic experience or exposure to 2D/3D design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Rhino) is a definite plus.
- Prior hands-on experience in a craft, hobby, personal project, or academic work demonstrating an aptitude for fabrication and detailed construction.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings or schematics.
