Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children's intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development, aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Observe, assess, and record children's progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date developmental records and sharing insights with parents/guardians.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that encourages exploration, learning, and positive interactions among children.
- Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring effective communication regarding children's daily activities and progress.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in your care, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Assist with daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and personal care, promoting independence and good hygiene practices.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and inviting learning space, ensuring resources are accessible and appropriate for various developmental stages.
Required Skills
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, NNEB)
- Demonstrable experience working as a Nursery Practitioner or in a similar early years setting
- Strong understanding and practical application of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to plan and implement creative, stimulating, and inclusive learning activities
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a 'term time only' contract
- Specialist training or experience in areas such as SEN, speech and language, or outdoor learning
- Proficiency in using digital observation and assessment tools
