Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team at Rusape Medical Centre. This is a full-time, on-site position vital to our mission of delivering exceptional patient care within the Rusape community. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional with a strong clinical background, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing practice. As a Registered Nurse, you will be at the forefront of patient interaction, providing direct nursing care, administering medications, educating patients and their families, and collaborating with our multidisciplinary team of doctors, specialists, and support staff. You will be responsible for assessing patient health conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and meticulously documenting all aspects of patient care in compliance with medical and ethical guidelines. This role demands exceptional critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to respond effectively in fast-paced and sometimes challenging environments, including emergency situations. You will play a crucial role in patient advocacy, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and understanding throughout their healthcare journey. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on their needs and medical conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
  • Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions, vital signs, and symptoms.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment plans, and preventative care.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and minor surgical interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Required Skills

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the relevant Zimbabwean nursing council.
  • Proven clinical experience in a hospital or medical center setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in administering medications and performing nursing procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic patient care approach.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal); knowledge of local languages (e.g., Shona) is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in emergency care, pediatrics, or general medical-surgical nursing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
