In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of electrical system development, from initial concept and detailed design to implementation, testing, and ongoing optimization. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test electrical systems, components, and products for industrial automation solutions.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and technical documentation.
- Conduct simulations, analyses, and feasibility studies to validate designs and optimize performance.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, analyze data, and troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., CSA, UL, IEC), and project specifications.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables for electrical engineering aspects from conception to production.
- Provide expert technical support and guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Research, evaluate, and integrate new technologies, components, and methodologies to enhance product capabilities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, preferably in an industrial or product development setting.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, OrCAD, SolidWorks Electrical).
- Strong foundational knowledge of circuit design, power electronics, control systems, and electromagnetics.
- Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC), and relevant programming (e.g., C/C++).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., CSA, UL, CE marking).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven capacity for teamwork and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related specialized field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Experience with FPGA design and hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog).
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, Modbus, PROFINET).
- Prior experience in the automation, robotics, or specialized machinery industries.
- Project management experience or certifications.
