Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Studio Camera Assistant to join our dynamic production team in Ambleside, West Vancouver. As a Studio Camera Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our camera operations run smoothly, supporting our lead camera operators and directors in capturing compelling footage. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead camera operators with camera setup, including mounting lenses, connecting cables, and configuring settings.
  • Prepare camera equipment for daily shoots, ensuring all batteries are charged, cards are formatted, and accessories are organized.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of camera bodies, lenses, and other related equipment.
  • Help with lighting setup and adjustments as directed by the Director of Photography or Gaffer.
  • Support the audio team with mic placement and cable management when necessary.
  • Maintain an organized and safe studio environment, managing cables and equipment to prevent hazards.
  • Assist with breakdown and packing of equipment at the end of each production day.
  • Transport equipment safely within the studio and to local shoot locations if required.
  • Shadow and learn from experienced professionals to develop skills in camera operation, lighting, and general studio production.
  • Respond promptly to requests from the production team and proactively identify areas for assistance.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of photography or videography principles.
  • Familiarity with various camera equipment components (lenses, tripods, monitors).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move camera equipment (up to 25 lbs).
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Demonstrated passion for film, television, or digital media production.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or certificate in Film Production, Broadcasting, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (even volunteer or student projects) with studio or on-location camera setups.
  • Knowledge of basic lighting techniques.
  • Familiarity with professional video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) is a bonus.
  • Experience with various camera brands (e.g., Sony, Canon, Blackmagic).
