Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a respectful and engaging environment.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' health status or behaviour to supervising healthcare professionals.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping duties as required by the care plan.
- Administer medication reminders as per care plan and scope of practice.
- Support clients in maintaining independence and engaging in community activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided and observations.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and patience.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to various care settings.
- Valid driver's license (or willingness to obtain) for potential home care roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or community support setting.
- Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
- Certification as a Health Care Aide (HCA) or equivalent.
