Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior analysts in monitoring security alerts and events from various security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR).
  • Conduct initial triage and investigation of security incidents, identifying potential threats and anomalies.
  • Help document security incidents, findings, and remediation steps in a clear and concise manner.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities under supervision.
  • Research emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies to stay informed.
  • Support the development and improvement of security processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with IT and other teams to implement security controls and remediate identified issues.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance cybersecurity skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, routers).
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and command-line interfaces.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with common office software (Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Foundational cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Understanding of common attack vectors and defense strategies.
  • Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Elastic SIEM) in an academic or personal project setting.
  • Participation in CTF (Capture The Flag) events or cybersecurity competitions.
