Key Responsibilities
- Operate medium-duty vehicles (DZ classification / LGV C) safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections on vehicles, identifying and reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes, making timely deliveries and pick-ups as scheduled.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and all required documentation, both digitally and physically.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and colleagues, providing updates and resolving delivery-related inquiries.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including manual handling procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Represent Career.zycto professionally at all times, upholding our standards of customer service and reliability.
- Conduct minor routine maintenance checks and ensure vehicle cleanliness.
Required Skills
- Valid DZ Driver's License (or UK equivalent LGV C / HGV Class 2) with a clean abstract/driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Excellent knowledge of road transport regulations and safety procedures.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading, unloading, and securing cargo.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with strong time management abilities.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine vehicle checks and identify issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating vehicles with tail lifts or specialist equipment.
- Familiarity with digital tachographs and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Knowledge of the Leeds and wider West Yorkshire geographical area.
- Certification in Defensive Driving or similar safety courses.
- A positive, customer-focused attitude.
