Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly diligent and experienced Control Room Operator to join our team, working within a sensitive and dynamic environment near the Karen Blixen Museum in Nairobi. This full-time position requires an immediate start, playing a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of our client’s facilities. As a Control Room Operator, you will be the central hub of information and response, tasked with continuous monitoring of advanced CCTV systems, alarm panels, and other integrated security technologies. Your primary objective will be to identify and respond to any irregularities, emergencies, or security breaches with speed, precision, and adherence to established protocols.

This role demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional observational skills, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. You will be responsible for meticulously documenting all incidents, maintaining accurate logs, and generating comprehensive reports for management. Effective communication is paramount, as you will be liaising directly with on-site security personnel, emergency services, and other stakeholders to coordinate responses and disseminate critical information efficiently. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in the proactive identification of potential risks, contributing to the development and enhancement of security procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other security infrastructure to detect and report suspicious activities or incidents.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches, initiating appropriate protocols and coordinating with relevant personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all activities, incidents, and actions taken within the control room.
  • Generate comprehensive incident reports, including timelines, observations, and responses, for management and further investigation.
  • Communicate effectively with on-site security teams, management, and emergency services to ensure coordinated responses.
  • Operate and troubleshoot various control room equipment and software, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Conduct regular checks of security systems to ensure full functionality and report any malfunctions.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of security procedures and emergency response plans.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions and guidance to security personnel during incidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, security protocols, and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Control Room Operator or similar security-focused role.
  • Proficiency in operating CCTV monitoring systems and alarm panels.
  • Excellent observational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for reporting and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and protocols precisely.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Security Management, Criminology, or a related field.
  • Experience with integrated security management systems (ISMS).
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
  • Knowledge of local security regulations and emergency response procedures.
  • Experience working in a museum, cultural institution, or similarly sensitive environment.
