Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nutritionist to join a prominent hospital or clinic within the vibrant community of Washington Gardens, Kingston. This professional role offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact patient health and wellness through evidence-based nutritional guidance and compassionate care. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' nutritional status and dietary needs through comprehensive evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans tailored to specific medical conditions and patient preferences.
  • Provide expert dietary counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers on nutrition principles, food choices, and meal preparation.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition therapy into overall patient care plans.
  • Conduct group nutrition education sessions and workshops as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in nutrition science and medical nutrition therapy.
  • Contribute to the development and review of institutional nutrition policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist certification (or equivalent professional licensure)
  • Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and disease-specific dietary interventions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in conducting nutritional assessments and developing personalized care plans
  • Empathy and a patient-centered approach to care
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Computer literacy for record-keeping and data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., English and Spanish/local dialect)
  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting in Jamaica
