Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef and other culinary staff in all aspects of daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation and cooking.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing a variety of produce, meats, and seafood according to recipes and chef's instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and stored.
  • Monitor food stock and communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supplies are always on hand.
  • Follow precise recipes and plating instructions to maintain consistency and quality of dishes.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and minimizing waste.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP principles.
  • Contribute to a positive and efficient kitchen atmosphere, fostering teamwork and clear communication.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of proven experience in a kitchen or culinary setting.
  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and culinary terminology.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Previous experience in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant.
  • Familiarity with Quebec culinary traditions and local ingredients.
  • Fluency in French (an asset, but not mandatory).
  • Certification in food safety and hygiene (e.g., MAPAQ in Quebec).
