Job Description

Are you deeply immersed in the world of music, possessing a keen ear for emerging trends and a powerful voice for cultural commentary? Career.zycto is seeking a talented and passionate Music Journalist to join our expanding remote team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who lives and breathes music, capable of crafting compelling narratives, critical reviews, and insightful features across a wide spectrum of genres, from indie and rock to hip-hop, electronic, and global sounds. We value original thought, a distinctive writing style, and the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

As a Music Journalist, you will be instrumental in shaping our editorial content, bringing the stories behind the melodies to life. Your work will involve researching and interviewing artists, producers, and industry figures, attending virtual or (where possible) local music events, and delivering high-quality, engaging articles that inform, entertain, and provoke thought. We’re looking for someone who can not only dissect an album but also understand its cultural impact, its historical context, and its place in the broader musical landscape. Whether you’re breaking down complex musical theories for a general audience or celebrating the nuances of a live performance, your ability to communicate passion and insight will be key. We are open to both part-time and full-time commitments, providing flexibility for the right candidate to thrive in a role that allows them to balance their creative pursuits with their professional goals. This remote position offers the freedom to work from anywhere in Alaska, or indeed, the wider US, while collaborating with a supportive and enthusiastic team dedicated to elevating music journalism.

  • Develop original story ideas and angles that resonate with our target audience.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial voice while adhering to journalistic best practices and ethical guidelines.
