Job Description
Career.zycto is immediately hiring a skilled and dedicated Truck Mechanic in Hove, Brighton. This pivotal role involves comprehensive inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of our diverse fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and commercial trucks. You will be instrumental in minimising downtime, enhancing vehicle safety, and ensuring the seamless execution of our logistics operations. You will tackle mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring all vehicles comply with strict regulatory and company safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative and scheduled maintenance on HGVs and commercial trucks.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Conduct thorough inspections, service, and road tests to ensure vehicle safety and performance.
- Overhaul and replace major components including engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Strictly adhere to all health and safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate with the team and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Actively participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Truck Mechanic or HGV Technician.
- Strong diagnostic capabilities for commercial vehicle systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
- In-depth knowledge of HGV engines, transmissions, braking, and electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid UK driving license (HGV Class 1/2 preferred).
- Commitment to safety and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
- IRTEC accreditation.
- Experience with specific fleet management software.
- Knowledge of Tachograph systems and calibration.
