Career.zycto is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Agriculture Coordinator to join our growing team in Nyeri County. As an Agriculture Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting local farmers and agricultural projects within Nyeri County. Your work will directly contribute to improving farming practices, increasing productivity, and enhancing the livelihoods of rural households. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all provided training programs and workshops to develop agricultural expertise.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of agricultural development projects at the community level.
- Conduct field visits to farms in Nyeri County to provide technical assistance and guidance to farmers (post-training).
- Support the establishment and strengthening of farmer groups and cooperatives.
- Collect and analyze data related to agricultural production, market trends, and farmer needs.
- Prepare regular reports on project activities, challenges, and successes.
- Facilitate farmer field schools and demonstration plots.
- Promote sustainable farming practices, including climate-smart agriculture techniques.
- Liaise with local government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders as directed.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for agriculture and rural development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn new concepts and practices.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Problem-solving aptitude and ability to adapt to changing field conditions.
- Fluency in English and Swahili (knowledge of local languages is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or a related field (even if recently acquired).
- Previous experience (even volunteer or internship) in a rural setting or agricultural environment.
- Knowledge of local farming practices and crops common in Nyeri County.
- Possession of a valid motorcycle riding license (or willingness to acquire one) for field mobility.
