As an Agriculture Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting local farmers and agricultural projects within Nyeri County. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all provided training programs and workshops to develop agricultural expertise.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of agricultural development projects at the community level.
  • Conduct field visits to farms in Nyeri County to provide technical assistance and guidance to farmers (post-training).
  • Support the establishment and strengthening of farmer groups and cooperatives.
  • Collect and analyze data related to agricultural production, market trends, and farmer needs.
  • Prepare regular reports on project activities, challenges, and successes.
  • Facilitate farmer field schools and demonstration plots.
  • Promote sustainable farming practices, including climate-smart agriculture techniques.
  • Liaise with local government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders as directed.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for agriculture and rural development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn new concepts and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Problem-solving aptitude and ability to adapt to changing field conditions.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili (knowledge of local languages is a plus).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or certificate in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or a related field (even if recently acquired).
  • Previous experience (even volunteer or internship) in a rural setting or agricultural environment.
  • Knowledge of local farming practices and crops common in Nyeri County.
  • Possession of a valid motorcycle riding license (or willingness to acquire one) for field mobility.
