Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and meticulous Cleaner – School Maintenance professional to fulfill a crucial on-site role within a respected educational institution located in the vibrant community of Badagry, Lagos. As a key member of the school’s support staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all designated areas, including classrooms, administrative offices, staff rooms, laboratories, library spaces, hallways, stairwells, and particularly the critical restrooms. Your daily tasks will directly impact the health and safety of hundreds of individuals, making your role indispensable. We are looking for someone who is consistently reliable, exceptionally detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently both independently and as part of a cooperative team. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying and addressing cleaning needs, managing supplies effectively, and ensuring that all areas consistently meet or exceed our stringent cleanliness benchmarks and health regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas, ensuring all surfaces are pristine.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms and lavatories, replenishing supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors, ensuring appropriate cleaning agents and equipment are utilized effectively.
- Empty waste bins and transport refuse to designated disposal areas, adhering to waste management protocols.
- Dust and wipe down all surfaces, including desks, shelves, furniture, and fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors to ensure streak-free clarity.
- Promptly report any observed maintenance issues, damages, or potential safety hazards to the supervisory team.
- Assist with the setup and tidying up for various school events, meetings, or activities as directed.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and inventory of cleaning chemicals and equipment, strictly following safety guidelines.
- Adhere to all school and company policies and procedures regarding hygiene, health, safety, and security at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or custodial services, preferably within a school, hotel, or similar institutional setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of various cleaning techniques, equipment, and cleaning products appropriate for different surfaces.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate standard cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mops, floor buffers, and pressure washers.
- Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Capability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a valued team member.
- Good verbal communication skills to effectively report issues and follow instructions.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
