Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty trucks safely and efficiently on designated routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to various destinations.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and other required documentation.
- Load and unload cargo as needed, ensuring proper securing and handling.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members.
- Monitor vehicle performance and conduct minor repairs or adjustments when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and good working order of the truck.
- Represent the company professionally to clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class BCE Driving License (Kenya)
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
- Minimum 3 years of professional truck driving experience
- Thorough knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws and road safety regulations
- Physical fitness to perform duties, including lifting and manual handling
- Ability to read and understand maps and GPS devices
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Defensive driving certification
