Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy-duty trucks safely and efficiently on designated routes.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to various destinations.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and other required documentation.
  • Load and unload cargo as needed, ensuring proper securing and handling.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and conduct minor repairs or adjustments when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good working order of the truck.
  • Represent the company professionally to clients and the public.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class BCE Driving License (Kenya)
  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations
  • Minimum 3 years of professional truck driving experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws and road safety regulations
  • Physical fitness to perform duties, including lifting and manual handling
  • Ability to read and understand maps and GPS devices
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Defensive driving certification
  • Experience with various types of cargo and trailer configurations
  • Familiarity with Mandera County and Northern Kenya routes
  • Certificate in transport and logistics management
  • Ability to speak local languages (e.g., Somali, Borana)
