Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control gas plant operations using SCADA systems and other control interfaces, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment, pipelines, and facilities to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, troubleshoot operational problems, and assist in corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and system deviations, initiating appropriate shutdown or recovery procedures.
  • Record operational data, maintain accurate logs, and generate reports on plant performance, production, and incidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and supervisory staff to optimize plant processes and implement continuous improvements.
  • Participate in safety drills, training sessions, and contribute to a strong safety culture within the plant.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Gas Plant Operator or similar role in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of gas processing principles, equipment (compressors, separators, pumps), and control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, PFDs, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Process Operations, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in relevant safety courses (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  • Experience with specific SCADA systems or distributed control systems (DCS).
  • Familiarity with UK gas industry regulations and standards.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety training.
