Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control gas plant operations using SCADA systems and other control interfaces, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment, pipelines, and facilities to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, troubleshoot operational problems, and assist in corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and system deviations, initiating appropriate shutdown or recovery procedures.
- Record operational data, maintain accurate logs, and generate reports on plant performance, production, and incidents.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and supervisory staff to optimize plant processes and implement continuous improvements.
- Participate in safety drills, training sessions, and contribute to a strong safety culture within the plant.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Gas Plant Operator or similar role in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Strong understanding of gas processing principles, equipment (compressors, separators, pumps), and control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, PFDs, and technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrable commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and industrial environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Process Operations, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in relevant safety courses (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Experience with specific SCADA systems or distributed control systems (DCS).
- Familiarity with UK gas industry regulations and standards.
- First Aid and Fire Safety training.
