Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in accordance with UK road regulations and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all safety checks are completed and recorded.
- Transport goods efficiently and punctually between various locations across the UK.
- Manage and maintain accurate delivery records, manifests, and documentation.
- Adhere to all tachograph regulations and working hours directives.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and colleagues regarding delivery status and potential issues.
- Ensure the security and proper handling of cargo during transit and at delivery points.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents immediately.
- Maintain a high standard of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) driving license.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional HGV driving experience.
- Up-to-date Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road networks and traffic regulations.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to complete paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Good command of English, both written and verbal.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) certification for hazardous goods (if applicable to specific roles).
- Experience with various types of trailers and loading/unloading equipment.
- Previous experience driving in varied weather conditions.
- Forklift truck license (desirable but not essential).
