Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all vessel machinery and systems.
  • Conduct thorough routine inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs of marine engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Monitor vessel performance parameters, identify potential issues, and proactively address them to minimize downtime and ensure maximum operational efficiency.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all national and international maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental protection protocols during all maintenance activities.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables, ensuring their availability for scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance logs, service records, technical reports, and documentation for all vessel systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with vessel captains, crew members, and shore-based management to understand operational needs and provide expert technical support.
  • Participate in vessel dry-dockings, refits, and major overhauls, coordinating with external contractors as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in marine diesel engine repair, overhaul, and maintenance for various engine types.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems (AC/DC), refrigeration, and pneumatic controls on marine vessels.
  • Proficiency in using specialized diagnostic tools and techniques for identifying mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the capacity to perform under pressure in challenging maritime environments.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety procedures, environmental regulations, and best practices.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of relevant maritime certifications (e.g., STCW endorsement, Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency).
