Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently, strictly adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Manage and organize pharmaceutical inventory, including stocking shelves, monitoring expiry dates, and ensuring proper storage conditions.
  • Process patient prescriptions, verify insurance information, and handle cash register transactions.
  • Provide clear and concise information to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and general health inquiries under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment, following strict hygiene standards.
  • Handle telephone inquiries, relay messages, and schedule appointments as required.
  • Prepare medication labels and packaging, ensuring all details are correct.
  • Assist with compounding medications as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Support administrative tasks such as maintaining patient records, filing, and data entry.
  • Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines regarding patient confidentiality and pharmaceutical practice.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Pharmacist Assistant or in a similar role within a pharmacy setting.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, drug names, and dosage calculations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and pharmacy management software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Pharmacy Technology/Assistantship.
  • Familiarity with local pharmaceutical regulations and guidelines in Nigeria.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Ability to speak multiple local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa).
