Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting skilled tradespeople (e.g., pipefitters, welders, heavy equipment operators) with various tasks.
  • Digging trenches, backfilling, and performing other excavation-related duties using hand tools and power tools.
  • Loading, unloading, and distributing construction materials and equipment on site.
  • Preparing and cleaning work sites, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Operating basic hand and power tools safely and effectively (e.g., shovels, rakes, jackhammers, plate compactors).
  • Flagging traffic and assisting with traffic control around construction zones when required.
  • Performing manual labour tasks such as lifting, carrying, and positioning materials.
  • Assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipelines, including pipe handling and positioning.
  • Strictly adhering to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participating in daily safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors immediately.
  • Contributing positively to a team-oriented work environment.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6-12 months) in construction, heavy civil, or a similar physically demanding role.
  • Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Basic knowledge of pipeline construction methods or materials.
  • Experience operating small plant machinery (e.g., plate compactors, cut-off saws).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
