Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Hotel Night Porter to join a prestigious hotel in the charming village of Sleights, just moments from Whitby. As a Night Porter, you will be the main point of contact for guests overnight, handling enquiries, assisting with late check-ins and early check-outs, and addressing any issues that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Manage late guest arrivals and early departures efficiently and courteously.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all guest requests and inquiries during the night.
- Conduct regular security walks and checks throughout the hotel premises, ensuring guest safety and building security.
- Handle telephone calls and switchboard operations, directing calls appropriately.
- Assist with luggage and other guest needs, demonstrating excellent customer service.
- Prepare public areas for the following day, including setting up meeting rooms or breakfast areas as required.
- Undertake light cleaning duties in public areas to maintain presentation standards.
- Monitor CCTV systems and emergency alarms, responding according to established procedures.
- Complete end-of-day reports and handover notes for the morning shift.
- Handle minor maintenance issues or escalate major concerns to the appropriate department.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including fire safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a customer service or hospitality role, ideally as a Night Porter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a polite and professional telephone manner.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a quiet environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Basic computer literacy for check-in/out procedures and reporting.
- Physical fitness to perform duties such as lifting luggage and conducting regular patrols.
- Reliability and punctuality for night shift work.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with hotel management systems (PMS).
- First Aid certification.
