Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily food preparation and cooking tasks according to established recipes and standards.
  • Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure consistent portion sizes, presentation, and taste across all dishes.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP, COSHH).
  • Monitor inventory and assist with stock rotation and ordering when required.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and kitchen team.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work station at all times.
  • Handle special dietary requirements and allergies with precision and care.
  • Assist with menu development and specials creation as opportunities arise.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Line Cook or Chef de Partie in a busy kitchen, preferably a pub or restaurant setting.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • Current Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher).
  • Experience with inventory management and waste reduction techniques.
  • A creative approach to food preparation and presentation.
