Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general gardening duties including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and watering.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Carry out seasonal tasks including leaf clearance, gritting, and snow removal as required.
  • Ensure all grounds are kept tidy, litter-free, and well-presented.
  • Monitor the health of plants, trees, and shrubs, identifying and reporting any issues like pests or diseases.
  • Assist with the installation and repair of fencing, paving, and other landscape features.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times, including the safe use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and method statements for grounds maintenance activities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in grounds maintenance or gardening.
  • Proficiency in operating various horticultural machinery and tools.
  • Strong understanding of planting, pruning, and general plant care techniques.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent physical fitness and stamina.
  • Valid UK Driving License.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Horticultural qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture).
  • PA1/PA6 spraying certificates.
  • Experience with basic landscape construction or repair tasks.
  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna.
  • First Aid certification.
