Key Responsibilities
- Perform general gardening duties including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and watering.
- Operate and maintain a variety of grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Carry out seasonal tasks including leaf clearance, gritting, and snow removal as required.
- Ensure all grounds are kept tidy, litter-free, and well-presented.
- Monitor the health of plants, trees, and shrubs, identifying and reporting any issues like pests or diseases.
- Assist with the installation and repair of fencing, paving, and other landscape features.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times, including the safe use of equipment and chemicals.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Contribute to risk assessments and method statements for grounds maintenance activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance or gardening.
- Proficiency in operating various horticultural machinery and tools.
- Strong understanding of planting, pruning, and general plant care techniques.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina.
- Valid UK Driving License.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticultural qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture).
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates.
- Experience with basic landscape construction or repair tasks.
