Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, and storytelling.
  • Support children with daily routines, such as meal preparation and supervision, nap times, and personal hygiene (e.g., toilet training, handwashing).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment conducive to children's learning and play.
  • Observe and document children's behavior, development, and progress, reporting any concerns to senior staff or parents/guardians.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding their child's day, achievements, and any important information.
  • Collaborate with other childcare staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality care experience.
  • Administer basic first aid when necessary and follow emergency procedures.
  • Foster positive social interactions among children, encouraging cooperation and respect.
  • Assist in preparing snacks and meals, adhering to dietary restrictions and ensuring proper nutrition.

Required Skills

  • Proven patience, empathy, and a genuine love for children.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) working in a childcare, daycare, or educational setting.
  • Relevant certifications in Early Childhood Development or Education.
  • Familiarity with child development stages and age-appropriate learning techniques.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and knowledge of local languages spoken in Chokwe, Mozambique.
