Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly diligent and experienced Compliance Officer to join our team in Runda, Nairobi. This pivotal role involves safeguarding our operations by ensuring strict adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. As a Compliance Officer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring our compliance programs, playing a critical part in maintaining our ethical standards and legal standing. You will work closely with various departments to embed a culture of compliance throughout the organization, identifying potential areas of risk and providing guidance on how to mitigate them effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs and internal controls.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and updates, assessing their impact on the organization and recommending necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and internal audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on compliance matters, including anti-money laundering (AML), data protection, and consumer protection regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance issues, complaints, and policy violations.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on their obligations.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies during examinations and inquiries.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all compliance activities, decisions, and communications.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or similar role, preferably within financial services or a regulated industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of local (Kenyan) and international regulatory frameworks and compliance best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma) in compliance or risk management.
  • Experience with enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in compliance and regulatory tech (RegTech).
