As an Event Setup Crew member, you will be instrumental in transforming empty venues into spectacular settings. Your day-to-day will involve a diverse range of tasks, including loading and unloading equipment, setting up staging, sound systems, lighting, tables, chairs, decorations, and other essential event infrastructure. You’ll work closely with event managers and technical directors to ensure every detail aligns with the client’s specifications and our high standards of quality. This role demands a keen eye for detail, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
We understand that events don’t always stick to a 9-to-5 schedule, so flexibility and a positive attitude towards varying work hours, including evenings and weekends, are crucial. Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading event equipment, furniture, and supplies with care.
- Setting up and dismantling stages, tents, trussing, and other temporary structures.
- Arranging tables, chairs, linens, and decorative elements according to event layouts.
- Assisting with the installation and breakdown of audio-visual equipment, lighting, and sound systems.
- Ensuring all equipment is handled safely and stored properly to prevent damage.
- Following detailed setup plans and floor layouts provided by event managers and supervisors.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area throughout the setup and teardown processes.
- Adhering strictly to all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Collaborating effectively with team members and event staff to meet tight deadlines.
- Providing on-site support during events as needed, including minor adjustments or troubleshooting.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly and safely.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to attendance.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment commonly used in event setup (e.g., wrenches, drills).
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as events demand.
- Positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in event setup, general labour, or warehouse operations.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- First Aid and/or Forklift certification.
- Experience with AV equipment setup or basic carpentry skills.
- Familiarity with event safety regulations and best practices.
